Do you feel alone in trying to understand your child’s challenging behaviors? Do the quick check-ins at school leave you craving deeper insight about your child’s social emotional development? Have you read books and listened to podcasts, but still feel overwhelmed about how to navigate your unique situation?

Steady Start is here to bridge those gaps. We offer a variety of sensitive, personalized social-emotional supports for Littles—and their families!—throughout the East Bay.

1. The Schmoo Crew: Social Emotional Community Intensive for Littles

Twice per week • 4:00–5:15 PM • Central Berkeley •
Ages 3-5 • 1 month commitment

The Schmoo Crew offers a nurturing environment where littles can express big feelings safely, build resilient connections, and practice social emotional skills. The group includes:

  • Outdoor, small-group play with inclusive, creative activities, supported by a skillful early childhood mental health consultant

  • Weekly write-ups with observations, insights, and strategies to try at home or share with your child’s school or other important adults

  • Two parent coaching sessions per month

2. Individual child observations + parent coaching

Designed for families who need short-term support, this offering package includes one 45 minute parent information call, two hour-long child observations (you choose the setting), one hour-long parent coaching call, and a one-page written report to share with teachers or other important adults.

Meet Annabelle

Annabelle Potvin believes that parent-child mental health is profound change work and lays the foundation for a just, joyous, and peaceful world. After graduating from UC Berkeley in 2021, Annabelle Potvin worked as an individual therapist for adults in the East Bay with a focus on trauma and perinatal issues. She now works as an Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant, cares for her preschool-aged daughter, and offers social emotional support for parents and littles through Steady Start.
